One driver is dead and another sustained serious injuries after a head-on collision Monday night in Madera Rancheros. The Fresno Bee reports that the accident occurred around 10:50 p.m. on Avenue 12 in front of Liberty High School. A 68-year-old woman was traveling westbound when she veered into the oncoming lane. Her truck smashed into a car traveling eastbound at roughly 65-mph, killing the driver almost instantly. The woman was transferred to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries and subsequently charged with driving under the influence. The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the wrongful death collision.
When a loved one loses their life suddenly, it can be an extremely painful and traumatic experience. If the loved one or family member was also the primary caregiver or breadwinner of the household this can further complicate the tragedy. Additionally, if the accident was the result of another individual’s blatant disregard or reckless behavior, the senselessness of the entire situation is only compounded. But there are ways to seek legal redress and find justice in such situations. Through a wrongful death claim, families who have lost loved ones to another individual’s negligent and careless actions are able to file for compensation. This compensation is monetary in nature and usually pertains to economic and non-economic damages sustained by the loved one and by extension his or her family.
While a wrongful death claim cannot undo the terrible damage done to you and your family, it may be able to help you overcome some of the financial obstacles you are facing. Contact the Law Offices of Rick D. Banks for more information or to schedule a consultation. Call (559) 222-4891.
